Public invited to events at Salamonie State Forest

The Upper Wabash Interpretive Services have several winter activities scheduled for the public in January. Information can be found or reservations made at (260) 468-2127.

The Salamonie River State Forest will be the site of a “First Day Hike,” Wednesday, January 1. The event will begin at 2 p.m. and participants will stroll through the historical efforts of the CCC and enjoy winter’s wonder.

A Senior Monday Luncheon will be held on Monday, January 6. The carry-in meal will take place at noon at the Salamonie Lost Bridge West site. A program will follow and reservations are requested.

“The Science of a Snowflake will take place on Saturday, January 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Salamonie Interpretive/Nature Center at Salamonie Lost Bridge West. How snowflakes get their shake will be the subject of the program and all ages are invited to join the event. Participants will create their own snowflake to take home and frozen treats will be served. Those attending should dress for the weather and pre-registration is requested.
