Professionals looking to start networking group

Posted: Friday, February 28, 2014

The Chamber has been approached by Brooke Hamstra, Thorne Insurance Agency and Mindy Muchow, Tipton House Assisted Living to help organize a group of individuals that would like to work toward building a networking group. The group would meet on a regular basis, yet to be determined, but would begin in April.

The Chamber will assist in the beginning by reaching out to our members to see if there are individuals that are interested in belonging to a networking group. Once the group is established, the group would manage themselves and the Chamber’s only involvement would be in an assistance capacity.

The group would consist of individuals in many different businesses throughout Huntington County who would begin to build relationships with each other and their services or businesses. The group would meet on a regular basis during lunch, where each individual would begin by sharing a little about themselves and their business, exchange business cards, build those long-lasting relationships and refer members of the group to people in the community seeking services provided by group members.

According to Hamstra, “I am looking forward to attending the Huntington Networking Group luncheon through the Chamber. It will be a great way to meet with other businesses, learn more about their people and hear what they have to offer. It will give us all a chance to network and become positive resources for one another in the community! I am very excited!”

Muchow went on to say, “I started in my new job as the Residence Sales Manager last July at the Tipton House in Huntington. This was a huge change for me as I live in Columbia City and have worked there for the last 15 years where I know everyone. Coming to Huntington was a huge change, but I jumped right in and started to be active in the community. I feel that offering a monthly networking group would not only help me grow in my business, but help others grow as well. The most exciting part is meeting new people that have the same goals as I do, to create new and lasting relationships.”

If you would like more information or are interested on joining a networking group, please respond to skimmel@huntington-chamber.com or call the Chamber office at (260) 356-5300. The Chamber will keep the list of individuals interested, and then invite you to the first meeting once it has been established.
