Physicians Health Plan offers scholarships

Physicians Health Plan (PHP) is accepting applications for its 22nd Annual Student Scholarship Program. Scholarships are available to high school seniors planning to pursue a career in a health-related field.

Applicants for the program must have applied to a post-secondary college, university, or technical school and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. They must also currently be either a PHP member or attending a high school within PHP’s 40 county service area. The service area includes Huntington and counties throughout Indiana.

The process involves completing a scholarship application form including a 1,000 word essay on the chosen topic. PHP has sole responsibility for selecting the scholarship winners and will award a one-time scholarship of $3,000 to the first place winner, a one-time scholarship of $2,000 to the second place winner, and the third place winner will receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000.

The deadline for entries to be submitted is February 25, 2010. There is no limit to the number of student applications accepted and application forms may be reproduced for distribution. Application forms can be downloaded at www.phpni.com or may be available through high school guidance counselors.
