PHH implements Park Farther campaign

Posted: Friday, September 28, 2012

Parkview Huntington Hospital implemented the “Park Farther” initiative of Parkview LiVe on Thursday, September 27. From approximately 11:30 a.m. until noon the Parkview LiVe staff, with the help from Parkview Huntington Hospital staff, painted parking spots with special wording encouraging staff and visitors to park farther from the buildings and increase walking for better physical fitness.

Designated spaces were painted in two large lots at the hospital, in the lot at the John B. Kay Medical Office Building and at the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA, adjacent to the hospital. With the Park Farther project the most remote parking spots of large lots are painted with the green Parkview LiVe logo and the message, “Park here to walk farther and be healthier.”

Parkview LiVe is a health and wellness program aimed at creating awareness and support of healthier lifestyles for families, children, and co-workers throughout the region. LiVe focuses on 8 Healthy Habits centered on food, activity and support. Regular physical activity is known to increase energy, strengthen muscles, decrease stress, and burn excess calories. The Park Farther project aims to promote these messages by encouraging walking farther distances.

Parkview LiVe is also promoting Park Farther at other Parkview facilities and is partnering with businesses and organizations to encourage people to take a few more steps to see the benefits of physical activity. For more information about Parkview LiVe, visit www.livehealthy.parkview.com.
