Pathfinder receives Distinguished Service Award

Posted: Friday, October 5, 2012

Huntington University Foundation presented Pathfinder Services Inc. with the 2012 Distinguished Service Award at Thursday evening’s annual dinner.

The Huntington University Foundation established this award in 2002 to recognize individuals or organizations that embody the principles associated with the mission of the university. Recipients are chosen because they give substance and credence to the university’s beliefs, make significant contributions to the Huntington County community and serve as effective role models for students.

Begun in 1966, Pathfinder Services Inc. aims to create a community in which all people are valued and accepted. Through divisions such as Pathfinder Kids Kampus, Pathfinder Community Supports, Pathfinder Community Connections, Pathfinder Resource Connection, Pathfinder OutSource Manufacturing, and Amramp, Pathfinder Services is helping those with developmental or economic challenges achieve independence and inclusion in society. Based in Huntington, Pathfinder serves Northeast Indiana with offices in Huntington, Allen, Marshall, Wabash and Whitley counties.

Pathfinder Services has created opportunities for Huntington students through employment and internships as well as providing a connection where Huntington faculty and staff can serve the organization on boards, committees and through other volunteer opportunities.

The award was presented to Pathfinder Services President John Niederman at the annual Foundation dinner. Since 1938, the Huntington University Foundation has assisted Huntington County residents who attend Huntington University through the annual Huntington County Grant and endowed scholarships.
