Pathfinder participates in 5K Walk

Posted: Thursday, April 19, 2012

Pathfinder Services will again sponsor a team of walkers for the Homeward Bound Indiana’s 5K Walk to provide housing and fight homelessness. Homeward Bound will take place on Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m. at Headwater’s Park in Fort Wayne with registration being from noon to 2 p.m.

Pathfinder Services is looking for as many walkers and sponsors as possible. Proceeds raised will go towards the Pathfinder Community Connections Transitional Housing program and other organizations like Pathfinder Services throughout Northeast Indiana.

Pathfinder Community Connections Transitional Housing program has ten homes in the counties of Huntington, Marshall and Starke counties. In 2011, of the families enrolled in the program, 100% attended one or more financial literacy classes, 80% actively decreased monthly debt, and 70% successfully rented or purchased a home.

“Our goal for this year is to raise at least $500 in pledges and have a good amount of walkers participate in Homeward Bound,” stated Beth Stevens, family self-sufficiency coordinator for Pathfinder Community Connections. “Homeward Bound is an annual event focused on fighting homelessness throughout Indiana, and we are happy to participate,” Stevens concluded.

If you or someone you know are interested in joining the Pathfinder team, or sponsoring a walker by making a donation, please contact Beth Stevens at bsteveens@pathfinderservices.org or by calling her at (260) 356-0521 ext. 3223.
