Pathfinder celebrates National Disability Month

Posted: Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Pathfinder Resource Connection, the Employment division of Pathfinder Services, Inc. is celebrating National Employment Awareness Month. In early October President Barack Obama proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month and urged all Americans to embrace the unique value that individuals with disabilities bring to our workplaces and communities and to promote everyone’s right to employment.

From July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010 Pathfinder Resource Connection assisted sixth-two people in achieving employment like Cindy Smith who is employed with Johnson Junction in Huntington.

“I have been employed with Johnson Junction since January of 2008,” Smith states. “Pathfinder Resource Connection, through the assistance of my Employment Specialist, helped me receive this job. I clean the parking lot, stock the shelves, help make food, stock the ice, and do anything I am asked. I work with my Job Coach who helps me learn new jobs at work,” Smith added.

Darlene Stanley, owner of Johnson Junction in Huntington had this to say about Smith. “Cindy is just a real joy to be around. She works hard, is dependable, is always at work and always does her job. Cindy is a great asset for Johnson Junction.”

Pathfinder Resource Connection is the Employment Division of Pathfinder Services, Inc. The division began in 1987 and specializes in assisting people with disabilities and others in finding and retaining employment.
