Posted: Friday, September 2, 2011

Presentation of an award for contributing to excellence in local healthcare will highlight the Parkview Huntington Community Gala, set for the evening of Saturday, November 5, at Parkview Huntington Hospital. The public will have a role in the selection of the honoree.

Nominations for the initial Dr. R.B. Peare and Dr. John B. Kay Award are being sought from the public as well as from local physicians and Parkview Huntington Hospital staff and board members. The presentation of the award, named for two Huntington physicians who were instrumental in advancing health services locally and in establishing the current Parkview Huntington Hospital, will be the centerpiece of the gala evening. Other activities at the semi-formal event include a social hour, welcoming remarks from Parkview Health Chief Executive Officer Mike Packnett and Parkview Huntington Chief Operating Officer Darlene Garrett, as well as music and dancing.

The gala will be held in the hospital’s main hallway. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and hors d’ouevres and an open bar will be available through most of the evening, with a dessert bar capping the event. The event is co-sponsored by the boards of directors of Parkview Huntington Hospital and the Parkview Huntington Foundation. Tickets are $75 per person and a limited number will be available to the public beginning September 6. Reservation information is available from the Parkview Huntington Foundation office at (260) 355-3310.

Mrs. Helen Peare and Mrs. Sharon Kay will be on hand to help present the award on behalf of their late husbands. The recipient(s) can be an individual, group of people, or an organization whose primary contribution(s), for recognition purposes, must have occurred from 1960 to the present. A committee consisting of hospital and community representatives will consider all nominations and select the recipient.
