Parkview Huntington to offer senior exercise

Posted: Friday, December 1, 2017

We all know we should move more for our health. But it can be challenging to get into a routine and hold ourselves accountable.

Parkview Huntington Hospital can help. Starting today, Friday, December 1, a new senior exercise class is being offered weekly on Fridays at 10 a.m. in the classrooms on the lower level of the hospital. Led by an exercise specialist from the hospital’s Adult Fitness Center, the class is open to anyone age 50 and older.

The goal of the class is to help participants maintain or increase their flexibility and strength. A wide variety of exercises that can be done while seated, or using a chair for support, will enable adults to participate no matter what their fitness level. The exercise specialist can help each participant modify the exercises as needed.

Participants are asked to bring a resistance band, if they already have one, and to dress in supportive shoes and comfortable clothing that allows movement. The senior exercise class is free to members of the Parkview Seniors Club and the Parkview Huntington Hospital Adult Fitness Center. All other participants pay a fee of only $3 per class. Payment in the form of cash or check can be made on the day of the class. Guests are welcome, also at a fee of $3 per person per class. Registration is required prior to first-time attendance. To register, call (260) 355-3240.
