Parkview Huntington Foundation host Gala

Posted: Friday, September 20, 2013

Presentation of an award for contributing to excellence in local health care again will be a highlight of the Parkview Huntington Community Gala, set this year for the evening of Saturday, October 26, at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

The Dr. R.B. Peare and Dr. John B. Kay Award for Excellence in Health Care honors two Huntington physicians who were instrumental in advancing health services locally and in establishing the current Parkview Huntington Hospital. Nominations for the award were sought this summer from the public and from members of the local health care community. A panel of hospital and community representatives will review the nominations and select the recipient.

Huntington pediatrician Dr. Duane Hougendobler received the 2012 award at the Gala last October. Marilyn Rittenhouse, a retired registered nurse, was presented with the first Peare-Kay award, at the hospital’s first community Gala in 2011.

This year’s event will again be held in the hospital’s main hallway. Reservations are $75 per person. Proceeds from the event will enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide medications for its discharged patients who qualify for assistance. Members of the boards of directors of Parkview Huntington Hospital and the Parkview Huntington Foundation head the Gala planning committee.
