Parkview Foundation sets Golf Classic

Posted: Friday, May 13, 2011

A challenging course, good food and enticing auction items await those who take part in the 21st annual Parkview Huntington Golf Classic next month. The June 23 event at the LaFontaine Golf Course is co-sponsored by Huntington University and Moake Park Group, the Fort Wayne architecture/interior design/planning firm. Proceeds will be used for privacy improvements to Parkview Huntington Hospital’s Surgical Admissions Unit that will enhance the surgery experience for patients, their family and visitors, physicians and staff.

Player registration begins at 11 a.m. with the practice green available for golfers to sharpen their putting stroke before a buffet lunch opens at 11:30 a.m. A shotgun start for the Florida scramble will be at 12:30 p.m. When play concludes, shortly after 5 p.m., a cash bar will be available before the 5:30 p.m. dinner.

This year’s event will feature an array of items in a live auction as well as a silent auction and a special raffle. There will be awards to members of the low-scoring gentlemen’s and ladies’/mixed foursomes, and prizes will go to winners of four contests on designated holes: gentlemen’s and ladies’ longest drives, closest to the pin and longest putt.

When the foursomes play the No. 1 hole, participants will have the opportunity to see if they can out-drive Parkview Huntington Hospital Chief Operating Officer Darlene Garrett off the tee. She and Parkview Huntington Foundation Director Mike Perkins will welcome all the golfers at the first hole. The event is organized by the foundation.

The registration fee is $360 per foursome, $90 for individuals, and the deadline is June 13. Online registration is available at  More information on the outing, including sponsorship opportunities, is available from Perkins at the Parkview Huntington Foundation office, (260) 355-3316, or
