Parkview adding pediatric rehab unit

Posted: Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Parkview Huntington Hospital is adding a 600-square foot pediatric rehabilitation therapy unit. It is expected to open in mid-April and will be on hospital’s lower level.

“The expansion will allow us to enhance services currently provided in our main department with a dedicated space with pediatric equipment for this population,” said Holly Sale, director of rehabilitation and wellness at the hospital. “We will also be able to offer physical, occupational and speech therapy services in partnership with the new Parkview Huntington Autism Center,” Sale said.

A gymnasium will be a part of the unit with open space for children’s activities and a ceiling-mounted swing for therapeutic treatment. Occupational and speech therapy will take place in two private rooms, allowing children a distraction-free space where they can focus on treatment.
