Operation Backyard seeks community support

Posted: Friday, June 29, 2012

This summer marks the sixth year that Huntington youth leaders and their youth groups will participate in Operation Backyard. The cooperative event will take place over the weekend of July 13-15 to help youth serve in their own backyard.

Each youth attending the weekend is charged $35 to participate. They are housed at Huntington University and the cost includes food and supplies plus a t-shirt. Area churches help to underwrite some of the costs involved. Huntington area youth leaders estimate that over 200 kids and adults will be involved and additional funds will be needed.

Operation Backyard organizers are asking area businesses to help support this project. The group appreciates donations of $25 to $50, but larger amounts are welcome. Those contributing would be investing in young people are their service to the community.

For for more information contact Roger Vezeau, Youth for Christ Chief Ministry Officer, at rvezeau@fwafc.org. Donations can be sent to College Park Church, 1936 College Avenue, Huntington, IN 46750. Checks should be designated for Operation Backyard.
