Posted: Thursday, April 18, 2019

Non-profit organization Oak Hill Farm, which provides therapy to children and adults by teaching how to ride and care for horses, is again sponsoring the People’s Choice BBQ Chef Cook-Off event. The fundraiser is set for Friday, May 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cottage Event Center in Roanoke.

The BBQ chef Cook-Off will allow attendees to pay one price and sample a variety of barbecue food items from an assortment of professionals and then vote for their favorite. Among the participating food providers this year are Moose & Mollies of Roanoke, Jimmy’s Barbecue of Fort Wayne, Triple B’s BBQ of Fort Wayne, former winner and Walnut Hill Catering of Fort Wayne, another former winner.

A cash bar will be available, along with music by The Fleetwood’s. The group is made up of Barrie Fleetwood, guitar and vocals, and wife Pam Fleetwood, percussion. The duo was previously members of the group Autumn Grey, which performed at each of the previous Oak Hill BBQ events.

Oak Hill Farm is a PATH International certified and accredited non-profit service organization dedicated to promoting horseback riding for the handicapped. They work with children and adults who face physical, emotional and/or social challenges, striving to make each ride a fun and yet therapeutic experience in a peaceful, relaxing setting.

Tickets may be purchased though Eventbrite, by calling Oak Hill Farm at (260) 672-8199, or on the day of the event at the door.
