Nothing changes until everything changes

Posted: Friday, July 28, 2017

Would you like the opportunity to be a part of a positive change in our community?  Then August 5 could be a pivotal day in our community with an opportunity for you to take part in making that change right here in Huntington. We are excited to invite you to be a part of Summer Refuge!

The day will start off with the Steps for Success event at The Splash Pad located at 1215 Etna Avenue beginning at 8:30 a.m. This is a distribution of new gym shoes for kids in our community who are about to head back to school. Steps for Success will be led by the Indiana Dream Center along with many organizations and churches in Huntington County.

There will also be a co-ed softball tournament taking place at Hier’s Park. Proceeds from this tournament will go to support the Indiana Dream Center as well as the Parkview Huntington Boys and Girls Club. These organizations are both doing amazing things to raise-up individuals to become upstanding citizens of our community.

The Summer Refuge Event will then kick off at 6 p.m. at Hier’s Park. This community-wide event is for families and anyone interested in being a part of bringing light to our community.

There will be many leaders of this community at this event including Sheriff Terry Stoffel who will be giving us statistics regarding the ongoing crisis going on in our community. Representatives from the Parkview Huntington Boys and Girls Club will share what is going on in their organization, success stories, prevention and amazing programs for the youth in our community. There will also be real life stories of hope and restoration from The Indiana Dream Center.

Evangelist Pastor Bernie Moore will share with us, as well as Pastor Jeff Carrell, regarding what we, as a community, can be doing to bring hope back to Huntington County and to this entire region.

There will be live music on the stage, free food, prizes and inflatables for the kids and much, much more. The Berg will also have a food truck on site for food to purchase. As you may desire to see a positive change in this region, we would love to have you and your families join us for this special day filled with hope and love for this community.
