Parkview Huntington Hospital (PHH) will host a Prescription Drug Take-back Day in conjunction with the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency and the Indiana State Board of Pharmacy.

Adult Fitness Center to close temporarily April 26 and 27, reopens April 29
The Adult Fitness Center inside the Rehab and Wellness Center at Parkview Huntington Hospital will be closed to fitness members April 26 and 27. With the conclusion of construction, Rehab and Wellness Center team members will relocate some equipment and offices to re-occupy the renovated space that was the original home to Rehab and Wellness. A private rededication of the entire Rehab and Wellness Center will take place on April 27. The newly rechristened Holly D. Sale Rehab and Wellness Center will be open for normal business on Monday, April 29.

Unwanted medication collection event at PHH on April 27
On April 27, representatives of the state pharmacy board will join Sheriff’s Department officers and PHH pharmacy team members at the hospital to collect discarded medications for later destruction. A drive-thru drop-off point will be located in the Emergency Department (ED) parking lot. A tent will mark the location not far from the ED entrance.

Drop off unneeded and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications in tablet, capsule, gel tab or other solid dosage form. All medications should be in their original bottles or packages. Illegal drugs, drugs in liquid form, and needles/sharps will not be accepted.

Smoking cessation class at PHH begins May 8
The next session of the American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking course at Parkview Huntington begins Wednesday, May 8 and continues the next seven Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. The free course will take place in Classrooms 1 and 2 on the lower level of the hospital.

You can quit smoking! Group support, tips and resources and a personalized plan to help you stay a non-smoker once you quit are all included in the course. The course is guided by a certified instructor. For more information, or to register for the class and receive materials, call (260) 355-3509.
