Nelson’s Chicken to benefit YMCA cycling

Posted: Saturday, July 17, 2021

A Nelson’s Chicken sale to benefit the Parkview Huntington YMCA cycling group exercise programs will be held on Saturday, July 31 at Juergens Hardware, 2850 N. Jefferson Street.

The Y is fundraising to purchase new spin bikes for the use in their cycling classes. Current cycling classes are also holding a friendly competition to encourage Y member involvement, and the community is invited to support the fundraising efforts as well.

Pledges and payments toward the fundraising can be made at the YMCA front desk or online via the Y’s website. The YMCA is located at 1160 W 500 N. A Mueller-Scherger Foundation Grant of the PNC Charitable Trusts has also been secured to help financially support a portion of the group exercise spin bikes. The goal is to purchase fifteen new bikes.

The July 31 Nelson’s Chicken event begins at 10:30 a.m. and continues until 2:30 p.m. or until the food is sold out. Presale tickets are encouraged and may be purchased at the YMCA front desk during their operating hours Monday to Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m. or purchased online via the Y website at On the website, click on “register” then “fundraiser.” Chicken halves and pit-tatoes will be available. Presale tickets are available for $11 for a meal consisting of chicken halves and pit-tatoes. On the day-of the event, chicken halves will be sold for $8 and pit-tatoes for $4.
