Metro Kiwanis offering two scholarships

Huntington Metro Kiwanis will provide two scholarships in the amount of $1,500 per scholarship. Metro Kiwanis is offering $1,500 for both the Chuck Wohlford Memorial and the Huntington Metro Kiwanis Scholarships.

To qualify, the applicant must be a resident of Huntington County, Indiana. Only high school seniors are eligible to apply, and will be expected to complete the school year for which the scholarship is awarded. The student must have scholastic achievements, extra-curricular activities, community service/leadership skills, financial need and references that will all be used as criteria for evaluating the applications.

These supporting materials must also be included with the application: a grade transcript from the high school, letters of recommendation from at least two high school teachers who will attest to the student’s character, initiative and studious behavior. Additional letters of recommendation from adults outside of the school system, and not a relative, are also welcome. A parent confidential statement, an essay of no more than 300 words which relates to past accomplishments, future plans and financial need are all needed to apply. Explain how the designated degree meets the requirement for the scholarship being applied for. The Chuck Wohlford Scholarship pertains to Education and the Huntington Metro Kiwanis Scholarship pertains to Human Services.
