Metro Kiwanis awards two scholarships

The Huntington Metro Kiwanis presented two local students with scholarships. The scholarships presented were the Chuck Wohlford Memorial and the Huntington Metro Kiwanis.

Lindsay Skiles, daughter of Adam and Valerie Skiles, received a scholarship for $1,500 and will major in the field of human services. Her plans include Missions and Children’s ministries at Huntington University. She is in the top 25 of the class of 2020 and her interests included advanced placement classes, literature honors, National Honor Society, HNHS tutoring, Varsity Singers dance captain and cooperative education program at Huntington North High School. Skiles has volunteered her time at Children & Youth ministries, Huntington City-Township Public Library, Rescue Mission, ReStore, Helping Hands, Blessings in a Backpack, Pregnancy Resource Center, Forgotten Children Worldwide International House and the Meal Ministry.

Daphnee Landrum, daughter of Troy and Sadie Landrum, received a scholarship for $1,500 and will major in the field of education. Landrum will study Secondary Education at Taylor University. She is in the top 25 of the class 2020, a Scholar Athlete, Freshman Mentor, on the Student Athletic Board, Class Council, National Honor Society and an academic letter recipient at Huntington North High School. She also participated in soccer, was a varsity basketball manager and helped with Blessings in a Backpack.
