McKinney to address Foundation Breakfast

Posted: Friday, January 29, 2016

The 2016 Huntington University Foundation Breakfast series continues on Wednesday, February 10. Ted McKinney, director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, will be the guest speaker and give an update on Indiana’s agriculture industry and what to expect in the coming year.

With more than 25 years of agriculture leadership experience, McKinney brings an extensive knowledge and understanding of Indiana and global agriculture to the ISDA. Prior to joining the ISDA in 2014, he was director of Global Corporate Affairs for Elanco Animal Health, a subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company. McKinney grew up on a family grain and livestock farm in Tipton, and graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics.

Dr. Raymie Porter, director of HU's Haupert Institute for Agricultural Studies, will also provide an update on the inaugural year of this new program and why the ag industry continues to be an area of high demand for an educated workforce.

The Foundation breakfast is held on the second Wednesday of the month, October through May, and is open to the public. It begins at 7:45 a.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons and concludes by 9 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $10, a portion of which will help support local area students attending HU through the Huntington County Grant. First-time attendees enjoy a complimentary breakfast courtesy of Bailey-Love Mortuary.
