Mason retirement party, December 17 at the Forks

Steve Mason is retiring from Insurance Services agency at the end of 2015, after more than 37 years. Mason began his insurance career with Continental Insurance Company in 1971 eventually becoming the fidelity-surety bond underwriting manager for the state of Indiana. Mason’s duties included marketing and underwriting Continental’s bonding/insurance products for insurance agencies throughout the state of Indiana.

During a routine visit with the owners of Insurance Services, Steve was offered a position as a commercial lines agent. Mason and his wife Jen moved to Huntington in the spring of 1978. In 1980, Steve became a partner/shareholder with John Sunderman and the two of them owned and managed the agency until 2004 when it was sold. Mason continued working as agency president until 2011 and has worked on a part-time basis since that time.

Mason has been active with a number of not-for-profit agencies in Huntington County, including serving on the boards of the Salvation Army, Red Cross, United Way of Huntington County, Huntington County Council on Aging, Boys and Girls Club, Indiana Dream Center and he was a volunteer coach for the YMCA’s Kim League and Youth Baseball programs. Steve is a past President of the Optimist Club of Huntington and has served on the board of directors of Bippus State Bank for more than 15 years. Mason received the Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe award in 2009.

Steve would like to thank all of his friends and the many insurance customers he’s had the pleasure of serving during his tenure.
