Marsh, Newton saluted for years of service

Posted: Friday, December 6, 2013

Ruth Marsh and Jennifer Newton were saluted recently for nine years of service to Parkview Huntington Hospital as members of the Parkview Huntington Foundation board of directors. Both members will formally leave the board on December 31, at the expiration of their third and final three-year terms of service.

“Ruth Marsh and Jenny Newton have played important roles with the foundation during their years with the board,” said Foundation Director Mike Perkins. “They have provided leadership, energy and direction for board efforts during a period of growth and progress for both the foundation and the hospital it serves.”

Marsh, a Roanoke resident, was chair of the Foundation board for three years, from 2009-2011. She served as immediate past chair in 2012 and has been a member of the board’s Executive/Planning and Hospital Alignment committees. Newton, of Huntington, has been a member of the Hospital Alignment Committee.

Both women also have been members of the planning committee for the Parkview Huntington Community Gala and have regularly volunteered to assist at the Parkview Huntington Golf Classic.

“Parkview Huntington Hospital has been honored to have such influential women play an integral role on the Foundation board. Their dedication and leadership have been greatly appreciated,” said Darlene Garrett, president of Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Engraved bricks noting both members’ board service will be placed in Parkview Huntington Hospital’s courtyard honor/memorial walk.
