Posted: Friday, January 25, 2013

Markle businesses and residents are now receiving high speed fiber optic Internet and phone services through a Portland-based company. Community Fiber Solutions (CFS) announced Tuesday, January 15 that fiber optic service became available to the company’s partner businesses in Markle on January 1 and the community as a whole on January 7.

CFS, a subsidiary of Benton Ridge (Ohio) Telephone Company, provides fiber optic service to communities and has installed over 164 miles of fiber optic infrastructure in the areas of Fort Wayne, Muncie and Lima, Ohio. The company worked with several businesses in Markle and Huntington County officials to bring the service to Markle. CFS installed approximately five miles of fiber optic cabling in Markle over the past six months to offer Internet speeds in excess of one gigabit.

Markle businesses partnering with CFS to complete the project were United REMC, Novae Corporation, Wayne Metals and ALH Building Systems. Assisting with the project were the Huntington County Commissioners, Huntington County Economic Development Corporation and iAB Financial Bank.

Fiber optic television will be offered by CFS to Markle residents in the future. For information, call (866) 246-9580.
