The Marketplace has record number of vendors

The Marketplace of Heritage Days will take place Friday evening, June 21 from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, June 22, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A record number of vendors will fill booths arranged around the Courthouse on Jefferson and Franklin Streets.

Food, crafts, leather goods, jewelry, sunglasses, T-shirts, party goods/scrapbooking, knick-knacks, home improvement ideas, purses, toys, gifts and more will be offered by 38 different vendors. Twenty-five of the vendors are business related individuals and 13 represent not-for-profit organizations.

Friday night in downtown Huntington will not only feature The Marketplace but will also include the carnival and car show. Saturday after the annual Heritage Days parade, The Marketplace will continue and downtown will also be the site for activities for children including free pony rides and petting zoo sponsored by McDonald’s restaurant Huntington, free bouncy houses and face painting offered by the Boys & Girls Club, the Train Express sponsored by First Federal Savings Bank, the Mobile Reptile Zoo sponsored by iAB Financial Bank and other children’s activities offered by Little Blessings.

Saturday afternoon downtown will also be the site for the YMCA Strength Challenge, square dancing, the Habitat for Humanity house and three-on-three basketball tournament. The carnival will also continue. Saturday evening the activities move to Huntington North High School for the Bed Race, dorm hole tournament, Hot Air Balloon Festival including a launch and glow, emergency vehicles including the Lutheran and Parkview Samaritan helicopters, Joy Pleaser clowns and more.
