Malta House looking for supplies

Posted: Thursday, March 10, 2011

The Malta House Emergency Boarding House, 505 S. Jefferson Street, is a faith based shelter for homeless men. The services of the Malta House are 100 percent funded by donation and at this time no government funding is provided.

According to Jason Fields, Malta House board president, “Things have been going very well as we (the Malta House) have been able to help out close to 50 men who have had no place to sleep, no food, or spare clothing since the fall of 2010.” He continued that the Malta House is doing well on food donations as they have teamed up with organizations here in Huntington and Fort Wayne to meet this need, but there are still huge needs that are not met.

Those needs include toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, shaving cream, razors, shampoo, laundry soap, bathing soap, and financial contributions. Donations can be dropped off at The Malta House, The Malta House Thrift Store, 515 N. Jefferson Street (downtown), or El Shaddai, Inc., 7 Parkmoor Drive, Huntington. The Malta House is appreciative of any help that can be given.
