Love INC preparing for back-to-school event

Posted: Friday, June 13, 2014

Love In The Name of Christ is getting ready for school doors to re-open this fall with its back-to-school shopping event to be held Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2. The organization is currently accepting gifts of clothing and backpacks for students to use this fall. Monetary donations and books are also welcome.

The donations will be distributed to students with limited resources during the back-to-school shopping event. Families of those students must register in order to participate, with registrations accepted at Love INC June 16 through July 24.

Jeans will be distributed and each child will also pick out a backpack. The backpack can then be taken to the Huntington County Youth Services Bureau to be filled with school supplies appropriate to the student’s grade level. Last year 468 students took part in the program.

Love INC is currently accepting gifts of new or very gently used clothing for the program. Jeans, especially for boys, and backpacks are also needed. New books for all age levels are accepted. Each student is allowed to pick out three books while shopping.

One hundred percent of any cash donations received will go directly into the program. All donations should be brought to Love INC no later than July 20. Love INC will accept donations anytime during its business hours on Monday, Thursday and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Families must register in person at Love INC, 715 Byron Street, in order to participate. For information call Love INC at (260) 356-0933 or e-mail Joey Spiegel, executive director, at joey@LoveINChtown.org.
