Posted: Friday, June 9, 2017

The community is invited to join the Huntington County Literacy Coalition for “Literacy on the Lawn,” a 30th year Anniversary Celebration. The Literacy Coalition will be celebrating on the Huntington County Courthouse lawn on Saturday June 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Those attending should bring chairs and blankets, and listen to the Erie Jazz Band from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Kids of all ages can enjoy Dr. Seuss stories from 11:15 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 12:45 p.m. There will be free books for the kids, free anniversary cake and hot dogs and drinks available for purchase.

For the past 30 years the Literacy Coalition has provided Huntington County with services promoting the importance of literacy in our everyday lives. Presently we provide free tutoring services to all ages including ESL tutoring and circulate youth reading materials within the county. Our goal is to make reading a priority for all and the enjoyment of reading possible for as many people as we can reach. Plan to join us as we celebrate the importance of literacy and education in Huntington County.
