Lions Club, others asked to donate to Fireworks

Posted: Friday, March 6, 2020

Huntington’s fireworks celebration will continue for 2020 on Saturday, July 4 thanks to generous donations from the community. The Huntington Lions Club began the fundraising efforts by presenting a check for $500 to Jennifer Fisher. Her husband Dan, now deceased, began his commitment to the local fireworks display in 1984, and she and a group of friends are keeping the tradition going.

Compared to many communities, Huntington’s fireworks show is a grass roots effort. The group of committed local volunteers will obtain the proper training, get their permits, licensing, will coordinate the display and spend countless hours assuring Huntington’s fireworks display will be a fun and safe event for the entire community.

“We are so grateful for all of our past support, and now we are reaching out for help with this year’s show. We are planning to have an exceptional show in 2020,” said Fisher.

Those who want to contribute to the fireworks effort, should send checks to the Huntington County Community Foundation, with “Huntington Fireworks” in the memo line, 356 W. Park Drive, Huntington, IN 46750.
