Library to offer Winter Boredom Busters

Posted: Friday, December 15, 2017

The Huntington Main Library invites kids ages eight to 12 to come to the library during the HCCSC Winter Break for Winter Boredom Busters activities. Each weekday during the break from school, the library will offer a different Boredom Buster activity - stop by anytime during regular library hours to take part and have fun. These activities are free, and no registration is required. See the library’s website at for the full schedule of programs.

The Indiana Room at the Huntington City-Township Public Library will kick off a year-long program featuring the library’s genealogy internet resources with a workshop on Ancestry: Library Edition. This workshop will take place at the Markle Library on Monday, January 8 at 6 p.m. and the Huntington Library Tuesday, January 9, also at 6 p.m. The workshops will cover the basics of the library edition of Ancestry for use in genealogy and local history research. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops or tablets to use the website during, or for opportunity to continue research after the workshop.

Children in grades four to six will have an opportunity for tactile play in the Huntington and Markle Libraries’ Sensory Days for Tweens taking place in Huntington from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2 and in Markle from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 3. Sensory Day will give children the chance to play with water beads, scented candles, shaving cream, bubbles and more as a chance to use their hands, nose and ears to enjoy play time. The program is free and no registration is required.

The Huntington Library is located at 255 W. Park Drive and the Markle Library at 155 W. Sparks Street, Markle. For more information on these or other programs, visit the library website at
