Library planning many events on May 7

Posted: Friday, April 15, 2016

The Huntington Library has a busy day planned for Saturday, May 7. The Master Gardeners will be there at 10 a.m. to help children age five through grade five in their annual Mother’s Day Make It and Take It Craft. Each child will enjoy a short story time and create a potted flower and Mother’s Day card to take home, free of charge. This program is limited to 35 children as supplies will be provided - parents must register their children by calling (260) 356-2900 or registering online at http://hctpl.info/youth.

Adults looking for affordable, easy, but impressive party platters can look no further than our Party Platters that Don’t Break the Bank program. Join us at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Library to learn how to make 4-5 party platters in 45 minutes from Linda Smith, library employee and party platter pro. She’ll go over tools, where to get trays and food, amounts to serve, garnishing, cook books, and more, demonstrating the platter creation as she goes. Attendees will be able to enjoy the trays created during the program once it’s wrapped up. This program does not require registration and is free, but is geared towards adults.

Saturday, May 7 is also Free Comic Book Day. While you’re at the library for either of these programs, grab two free comics from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a wide variety of stories, characters and adventures. There will also be comic-themed crafts from 10 a.m. to Noon, and a superhero movie screening at Noon (of course, with popcorn). This program also takes place at the Markle Library. This program is geared towards all ages.

For any questions regarding these programs, call the Huntington Library at (260) 356-0824 or email ask@hctpl.info. The Huntington Library is located at 255 W. Park Drive, the Markle Library is located at 197 E. Morse Street, Markle.
