Library looking for tutors for training in October

Posted: Friday, September 13, 2019

The Literacy Services of the Huntington City-Township Public Library will hold four training sessions in October for anyone interested in volunteering one hour per week as a tutor. The training sessions will take place on the last four Wednesdays in October.

Tutoring dates will be October 9, 16, 23 and 30. All tutoring will take place at 6 p.m. at the Huntington Library, 255 W. Park Drive. These sessions are free and encouraged for those interested in tutoring. By attending, you are not committing to tutoring – these are interest sessions only.

Subjects in need of tutors include math, reading, English as a Second Language (ESL), HSE exam preparation and citizenship test preparation. Anyone looking to invest their experience back into the community and who are confident in their communication skills, a general knowledge of the subject and possess a desire to help are encouraged to attend. Tutors must be at least 18 years of age.

To sign up for these interest sessions, email Dawn Schmidt, Literacy Specialist, at literacy@hctpl.info or call (260) 356-0824.
