Libraries to host string art, Cupcake Wars in July

Teens have the opportunity to get crafty with string art and cupcakes at the Huntington and Markle Libraries in July. The Huntington Library will host a Get Your Craft On session from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, July 10, with the Markle Library hosting the event on Thursday, July 13 from 1 to 4 p.m., where teens can create string art, Sharpie marker art, and making paper cacti.

Cupcake Wars will pit teens against each other in the challenge of decorating (and then eating) cupcakes; the program will take place at the Huntington Library Monday, July 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Markle Library Wednesday, July 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. Registration is required for Cupcake Wars, visit http://hctpl.info/program-reg to sign up.

The Summer Library Program will wrap up this year with the Can-Unity Architecture Contest. Can-Unity is a food sculpture building contest benefiting Love INC, United Way of Huntington County and the Friends of the Huntington City-Township Public Library. Anyone can participate by creating an architecture-related sculpture using canned and non-perishable food items. Assembly will take place after library hours on Friday, July 21, with voting by the community from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 22 at the Huntington Library.
