Libraries to host Pumpkin Decorating

Posted: Friday, October 12, 2012

Huntington City-Township Public Library invites pumpkin decorators of all ages to enter our annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest, open to individuals, families, groups, and clubs of all kinds. Between Friday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 23, decorated pumpkins may be brought to either branch of Huntington City-Township Public Library. The HCTPL Main Library is located at 255 W. Park Drive and the HCTPL Markle Branch Library is located at 197 E. Morse Street. Pumpkins should not be carved, but can be decorated with markers, paints, yarn, cloth, hats, or any such item.

On Wednesday, October 24, pumpkins will be judged by our library patrons in the following categories: Funniest, Most Unusual, Most Colorful, Prettiest, Cutest, Scariest, and Best Overall.

Separate winners in each category will be declared at the Main Library and at the Markle Branch Library. Winners will be notified on Friday, October 26. On Monday, October 29, prizes may be picked up and pumpkins can be taken home to enjoy or carve for Halloween. Pumpkins must be picked up no later than 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31. For more information, contact the Children’s Department at (260) 356-2900 or the Markle Branch at (260) 758-3332.
