Lahr's retail store holds ribbon cutting

The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at Lahr’s Mowing and Landscaping on Wednesday, March 28 in celebration of the expansion of the business. Dennis Lahr, owner, is adding the retail location at 2001 Old U.S. Hwy. 24 East to his mowing and landscaping service.

Grand opening for the store will be Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15. The business will be fully stocked and drawings will be held for four large pots of flowers.

Dennis Lahr began the business in 1986 after graduating from high school. His mother; brother, Robert and sister, Susan are also part of the business. Jay Brooks will manage the retail location for the Lahr’s.

Lahr says he is opening the retail store to help the community and will offer a variety of products including different types of stone and rock, trees, shrubbery, water fountains and ornamental statues. It will also sell mulch, dirt, grass seed and fertilizer. Lahr’s services include landscaping, mowing, snow removal, excavating and driveway grading.

Susan Lahr said the retail store will offer customized items including ceramics and wind chimes. Many items will be created by Kathy Brey. Susan also commented that the business will have a large selection of flowers which will be arriving soon.

The business currently has 14 employees. Dennis Lahr also owns and operates 24/7 Towing. Store hours for the new location will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The retail store phone number is (260) 356-9000; the business office is (260) 356-4429.
