LaFontaine Center holds After Hours

Posted: Friday, November 13, 2015

The staff of the LaFontaine Center, 208 West State Street, hosted a Chamber After Hours on Tuesday, November 10. The event was held from 4 to 6 p.m.

More than thirty people were in attendance for the LaFontaine Center’s 30th Anniversary. The guests were treated to shrimp, meatballs, chicken, cheese tray and crackers and Kim Nelson’s famous cupcakes. Tours of six different apartments were given to those interested in seeing the rooms.

Rose Meldrum, executive director of the LaFontaine Center, gave a brief talk on the history of the building and mentioned a few names of those that stayed at the hotel. Meldrum shared a video of the original hotel when it was one of finest in the area. The photos also depicted a time when the hotel was in almost complete ruins, and followed to today’s beautiful structure. The Chamber thanks Rose Meldrum and the LaFontaine Center for opening their facility and sharing the history, refreshments and tours with our Chamber members.
