LaFontaine Arts Council announces food vendors

Posted: Friday, June 10, 2016

The LaFontaine Arts Council’s family-friendly community event JeFFFest will offer something to please everyone’s palate. The event will be held on Sunday, June 19, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Huntington.

The JeFFFest “fun food” vendors and their offerings are as follows: The 509: Iced chai latte, herbal iced tea and hot coffee; The Rusty Dog Irish Pub: Real bacon cole slaw, shrimp and crab pasta salad, BBQ pulled-pork sliders; The Hoosier Drive-In: Mini tenderloins and baked beans; Kim’s Katered Affair: Plain and filled cupcakes; The Party Shop: Milk chocolate pecan turtles; L&D’S Saved Ice: Shaved ice; The Brick House: Crab cakes, stuffed baby bellas and strawberry shortcake; The Berg Ale Haus: Beer brats, hot dogs, German potato salad and chips; JD’S: Ham salad or chicken salad on a croissant, potato salad and macaroni salad; Moose & Millie’s: Gelato; The LaFontaine Arts Council: Bottled water and soft drinks.

A limited amount of tables and chairs will be set up on Jefferson Street, but everyone is strongly encouraged to bring their own seating to guarantee having a place to sit. The “fabulous music” of the event features Eric Clancy Jazz with soloist Shannon Persinger beginning at 6 p.m. The final component of JeFFFest comes from the “fine art” of local and area artists who created works of art on 5”x7” canvases, which are offered for silent auction until 8 p.m. that night. The artworks will be on display at Four Corners Custom Framing, and bid sheets will be on tables in front of the store.

There is no admission charged for the event itself. Tickets in $1 increments will be sold at the Washington/Jefferson and Market/Jefferson intersections the evening of JeFFFest. These tickets can then be exchanged for the food items. All proceeds from JeFFFest go toward the LAC’s “Arts in Education” programming.

For more information, check either the LaFontaine Arts Council or JeFFFest Facebook pages, or contact LAC executive director Debbie Dyer at (260) 358-0055 or Four Corners owner Paula Bittner at (260) 355-0650.

Shown in the photo is Lee Bowers, owner of The Rusty Dog Irish Pub and a regular food vendor at JeFFFest. The Rusty Dog Irish Pub puts opening bids on all the artwork at the LaFontaine Arts Council event. Bowers is shown with some of the canine-themed works he has purchased at past JeFFFest events. This year the bidding begins on June 16 and ends at 8 p.m. on June 19 at JeFFFest.
