LaFontaine Arts announces Music for JeFFFest

Posted: Friday, June 10, 2011

JeFFFest, an annual community event presented by the LaFontaine Arts Council and Four Corners Custom Framing, will be held June 19 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Huntington. The event features fine art, fun food and fabulous music.

This year two groups will provide the music for the event. In keeping with the LAC motto “Inspire the Young at Art,” one group is comprised of recent Huntington North High School graduates and current HNHS students. The Lime City Jazz Combo was formed recently to give the musicians an opportunity to hone their skills during the summer months. They meet each Sunday to rehearse as a group and meet in their own sections one other time during the week.

Ross Whitacre is an HNHS graduate and current music education major at Ball State University. He succinctly explained the motivation of the group when he said, “It gives us a chance to get together for the love of playing.” The Lime City Jazz Combo will play starting at 6 p.m.

Eric Clancy Jazz is making its third appearance at JeFFFest. The group is being underwritten by Edward Jones financial advisors Jim Ditzler, Chuck Harris, Nicole Johnson, Trent McBride, Jim Scheiber and Jim Warner. Eric Clancy Jazz will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Canvases for area artists to create a work of art for JeFFFest are still available at Four Corners Custom Framing. Canvases are $5 each and become the property of the LAC when they are returned to the store for professional framing. They are then offered for silent auction beginning June 16 and ending at JeFFFest. All proceeds from JeFFFest go toward the LAC's “Arts in Education” programming.
