Junk Yard Band to perform at Event Center

The Junk Yard Band, a Fort Wayne area Oldies Rock quintet known for their performances of music from the ’50s and ’60s, make their first appearance at Roanoke’s Cottage Event Center on Friday, April 12. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Pets Assisting Well-Being & Success (PAWS Inc.).

The group has been playing for over four decades when they began rehearsing next to a salvage yard, leading to the band’s name. They performed at the Fort Wayne Bicentennial, The Three Rivers Festival, The James Dean Festival, and numerous area festivals, fairs and car shows. The lineup consists of Rick Brown, keyboards, sax and vocals, Don Miles, drums and vocals, Dale Pequignot, lead vocals, Mike Hockaday, bass and vocals and Guy Platter, guitar and vocals.

PAWS Inc. has approximately thirty teams of dogs and handlers serving clients in a number of area counties including Huntington and Allen. All of their dog handler teams are registered and insured by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, based in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and must meet rigorous standards. The group’s founder and executive director is Janet Jordan Altmeyer of Fort Wayne; Kay Anderson is Director of Placement Services.  PAWS Inc will have some of their dog and trainer teams at the event to answer questions before the show.
