JJ Java opens in remodeled Johnson Junction

Posted: Friday, June 6, 2014

JJ Java opened last week at the Johnson Junction location at 2840 Guilford Street. The new café and coffee shop is attached to the current Johnson Junction structure and is open seven days a week. Monday to Saturday hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Johnson Junction was founded in 1980 by Ralph Johnson and is currently operated by his children and grandchildren. The new addition, JJ Java, has its own entrance, seating area and drive-thru window. A variety of coffee products are available from black coffee to lattes, cappuccinos, Americanos and more. Teas and smoothies along with muffins, coffee cakes, cheesecake, cookies and other dessert items are also ready for purchase.

Brent and Darlene Stanley are the owners of Johnson Junction, while daughter Megan Reckelhoff, supervises both Johnson Junction and JJ Java. Elaine Felton, sister of Darlene Stanley, is the manager of the new café and coffee shop.

Reckelhoff said in addition to the brewed and blended creations, they will also have a deli case with juices, bottled water and other pre-made products. Reckelhoff stated, “JJ Java has seen a steady increase in business since opening a week ago. Business has been good and we feel we have a little bit of everything for our customers.”

The seating area in JJ Java allows for a place to enjoy coffee with friends, a place for university students to study and is welcoming to those in the community who desire a relaxing coffee shop atmosphere.
