Posted: Friday, March 31, 2017

Huntington family physician J. David Carnes, MD, Parkview Physicians Group – Family Medicine, Huntington, will be honored at the sixth Parkview Huntington Community Gala on Saturday, April 29, at the Historic Forks of the Wabash.

Dr. Carnes will receive the Dr. R.B. Peare and Dr. John B. Kay Award for Excellence in Healthcare. The award is named for two Huntington physicians who were instrumental in advancing health services locally and in establishing the current Parkview Huntington Hospital. The presentation will be the centerpiece of the gala evening, for which tickets are now available.

The award recognizes Dr. Carnes’s significant and lasting contributions to the advancement of healthcare in Huntington County and the surrounding area as a member of the practice formerly known as Family Practice Associates for the past 35 years. He joins Duane Hougendobler, MD, and Anil V. Rao, MD, and nurses Marilyn Rittenhouse, Ruth Wall and Mary Wilson as Peare-Kay Award recipients. Dr. Carnes was chosen for the honor from a field of nominees reviewed by a panel of hospital and community representatives.

The Parkview Huntington Community Gala has a new location this year, the Chief Richardville Room, Historic Forks of the Wabash, 3011 W. Park Drive. Complimentary valet parking will be available. Doors open at 7 p.m. Gourmet hors d’oeuvres, a selection of desserts and fine beverages will be available throughout the evening. Following the award presentation, guests can take to the dance floor and show off their fancy footwork.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Jill Dreyer Scholarship Fund, which is administered by Parkview Huntington Foundation. Jill Dreyer scholarships are awarded each year to employees of Parkview Huntington Hospital who are pursuing nursing degrees. The Gala is co-sponsored by the boards of directors of Parkview Huntington Hospital and the Parkview Huntington Foundation. Reservations are available online or by phone. Ticket cost is $75 per person.
