Huntington Metro Kiwanis awarding scholarships

Huntington Metro Kiwanis will be awarding two $1,500 scholarships to Huntington County seniors that will be attending an Indiana college or university for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The scholarships being awarded are: Chuck Wohlford Memorial Scholarship for any Huntington County graduate attending an Indiana college or university and majoring in education. Kiwanis will also offer the Huntington Metro Kiwanis General Scholarship for any Huntington County graduate that attends an Indiana college or university and majors in a degree toward human service.

Scholarship application forms can be picked up at Huntington North High School at the guidance office or online at the schools’ website. Cyndy Patrick is the coordinator for the scholarships and can answer any question individuals may have. The application needs to be filled out and returned to Huntington Metro Kiwanis per instructions attached by Monday, April 4, 2016.

Kiwanis is an International co-educational service club that is celebrating their 100 year anniversary. Kiwanis was founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan with the International Headquarters in Indianapolis. Kiwanis is in 80 nations and has over 150,000 service projects and raises nearly $100 million every year for youth and community projects.
