Huntington, Markle libraries announce events

Posted: Friday, August 18, 2017

Children, age’s birth through seven years, are invited to this year’s “Fall into Story Time” story time sessions at the Huntington and Markle Libraries beginning September 5. Sessions take place Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. and Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntington Library, along with Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Markle Library from September 5 through November 16.

Story Time emphasizes the six pre-reading literacy skills - letter knowledge, phonological awareness, print awareness, print motivation, vocabulary, and narrative skills - from the Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library program.

Discovery Crew will begin the same week, inviting children in grades first to third grades to “Reach for the Stars.” Come to the Huntington Library on Wednesdays at 4:15 p.m. from September 6 through November 15 to explore space with a variety of activities and games.

Registration for both programs is open now to sign up your child. Call the Youth Services Department at (260) 356-2900.
