Huntington County Promise event at Two EE’s

Posted: Thursday, March 8, 2018

The Huntington County Promise, a program that helps youth dream about their future careers and save for education beyond high school, will host a 1:1 Match Event on Thursday, March 15, at Two EE’s Winery, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and the evening includes light hors d’oeuvres, a $10 voucher at the winery, entertainment and auction/raffle items.

The Huntington County Promise has a unique opportunity to double the giving power of local supporters through the 1:1 Fund. The Huntington County Promise will receive a dollar-for-dollar match on money raised at the event and for any donation from $1 to $500 per individual donor. Donations will be used to provide local youth with scholarships and incentives after they open a CollegeChoice 529 savings account.

“The Huntington County Promise promotes a shift in attitude for students and their families that a post high school education is both possible and necessary in the 21st Century,” says Michael Howell of the Huntington County Community Foundation. In addition to matches for their savings, youth also experience a visit to a college campus and classroom activities that help them dream about possible careers. Huntington County Promise is an initiative through The Huntington County Life Long Learning Coalition and the collaboration of many business and organization leaders.

The Huntington County Promise has set a goal of raising $5,000 during the 1:1 Match Event. Individuals, groups or organizations interested in participating in the 1:1 Fund opportunity can purchase tickets for the 1:1 Match Event at any of the seven HCCSC Elementary Schools and The Huntington County Community Foundation, or those who are unable to attend the event and would still like to contribute, can send any donation to the Huntington County Community Foundation, 356 W. Park Dr., Huntington, IN, 46750 by Thursday, March 22. Make checks payable to Huntington County Community Foundation with Huntington County Promise in the memo line.
