Humane Society annual dinner a success

The annual dinner of the Huntington County Humane Society was held on March 10. Many awards were presented to the volunteers who keep the animal shelter in operation.

The Thurman Poe Humanitarian Award was presented to Pathfinder Services for their extensive volunteerism at the shelter. The award was presented by Wendy Sorensen, vice president.

The Special Appreciation Award was presented to Huntington Veterinary Hospital for their tireless cooperation and service to the shelter animals. The award was presented by shelter director Becky Blackmun.

The Outstanding Mentor Award was presented to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control for their guidance and mentorship after fundamental changes were made at the shelter. The award was presented by Tina Feller, president. Accepting the award from the Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control are Amy-Jo Sites, Lisa Cain and Laura Rowe.
