HU partners with Emerge to grow programs

Posted: Friday, April 17, 2015

Huntington University and Emerge Education, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, announced a new partnership April 16 that provides the university marketing, lead generation, student recruitment and other online program support services to assist the university in growing its online graduate programs.

Emerge Education will work with the university to support a series of online degree programs beginning in fall 2015. The first online programs will include certificate courses and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership through the Townsend Institute for Leadership & Counseling, founded by Dr. John Townsend, New York Times best-selling author, leadership consultant and one of the country’s top psychologists.

In addition to the programs offered in affiliation with the Townsend Institute at Huntington University, an M.A. in Global Missions Leadership, an M.A. in Pastoral Leadership, and an M.A. in Global Youth Ministry also will be among the first programs launched within the new partnership.

Christian Universities Online has ranked Huntington University’s online graduate degree programs as No. 23 on its list of the Best Online Christian Graduate Schools. HU was the top Indiana school on the list for 2015. The focus on these first graduate programs around leadership concentrations is consistent with the growing number of millennials who are seeking careers that align with their personal mission and growth objectives (positions within non-for-profit versus for-profit organizations). Under the partnership agreement with Emerge Education, HU will continue to determine all online curricula, degree requirements, course selection, faculty, and enrollment and graduation requirements.

“Our partnership with Emerge Education enables us to offer our degree programs to students who aren’t able to join us on campus and promote our brand and core values to a wider regional, national and even global audience,” says Dr. Sherilyn Emberton, president of Huntington University. “We chose to launch this partnership with Emerge because we believe they truly understand who we are and how we want to be known as an institution and that they are uniquely positioned to help us attract students that will further HU’s mission.”

Kim T. Coon, president and CEO of Emerge Education, agrees. “We are pleased to be working with Huntington to expand the institution’s online program offerings and to begin reaching new student markets for the university,” he said.
