HU Leadership Luncheon features Shafer

Huntington County Community School Superintendent Tracey Shafer will examine the development of 21st Century workforce skills during Huntington University’s Leadership Luncheon. The luncheon will take place from noon to 1 p.m. January 26.

The presentation will discuss the current efforts to develop leadership talent in the workforce including the development of 21st Century workforce skills. The focus of the presentation will be to review the progress of the Vision 20/20 process in Northeast Indiana in conjunction with local efforts to develop 21st century workforce skills via Huntington County Community Schools.

Those in attendance will also be treated to an interactive session with a panel of high school students who will share their experiences to date as students in Viking New Tech.

Shafer is currently in his sixth year of service as the superintendent of Huntington County Community School Corporation. Prior to his promotion to this position, Shafer served as the interim superintendent and the assistant superintendent for instruction for Huntington County Schools. Shafer is a 1989 graduate of Huntington University with a Bachelor of Science in education degree. He also holds a Master of Science in Education from Purdue University, and in 2005, he was awarded an educational specialist (Ed.S.) degree in administration and supervision from Purdue. He is currently a doctoral candidate for the Ph.D. in educational administration program at Purdue.

The luncheon, sponsored by the Huntington University Center for Leadership, will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons. The cost is $10 per person – a reduced price this year. The luncheon is open to the public.
