HU Concert Choir to team up with Blue River Big Band

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — The Huntington University Concert Choir will join Columbia City’s professional Blue River Big Band for an evening of Big Band and jazz music in “Just Jazz” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts on campus.

The concert choir, under the direction of conductor George Killian, will feature several jazz favorites, including “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” and “On the Sunny Side of the Street.”  Featured soloist Joni Killian will join the Blue River Big Band with “Almost Like Being in Love” and “This Can’t Be Love.”

The Blue River Big Band, made up of several professional musicians from the Columbia City area, will be performing several hot Big Band charts guaranteed to get your blood pumping and set your toe to tappin’. Todd Ward directs the group, and this is the third collaboration between the Blue River Big Band and the Huntington University Concert Choir since 2003.

This is a general seating event, and tickets will be available at the door or may be reserved by calling (260) 359-4261. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students.
