HR Professional Development schedule set

Posted: Friday, August 1, 2014

The HR Professional Development group of the Chamber of Commerce has set its schedule for the rest of 2014. All meetings are held on the second Friday of each month with the exception of July and December; no meetings are held in those two months. Meetings take place at the Victory Noll Center, 1900 W. Park Drive. There is no cost to attend, but if you would like lunch, there is a $10 fee.

Anyone is welcome to attend one of the HR Professional Development group meetings whether you are an HR employee or not. The group has a variety of topics which are pertinent to HR as well as others who work with employees in a supervisory capacity. Our attendees consist of HR professionals, business owners, managers, healthcare professionals and others who would like to build relationships in the business profession.

The August meeting will host Scott Miner of ExecuTrain of Fort Wayne as he speaks on “The Future Challenges and Possibilities of Leadership and Business.” He will go into detail as to how the business community has changed and how we, as employers, and employees, must change to stay relevant. In September, Mark Wickersham, executive director of the Huntington County Economic Development will give an update on the economic vitality of the community within the industrial sector. Guests for October include Kim Kolmerten, manager of business services from Northeast Indiana Works (WorkOne). Their presentation will include the mission of WorkOne and how they can help train your personnel and possibly receive training at no cost to you or your company. Finally, to tie everything together, Ed Vessels, a partner of the Huntington County Community Learning Center, will give an overview of the newly proposed learning center in the November meeting. The last four months of meetings are going to be exciting and worthwhile for you or one of your supervisors to attend.
