HR Group hears from Northeast Indiana Works

Kim Tempel, manager of business services for Northeast Indiana Works (WorkOne), presented to the HR/Professional Development Group on Friday, October 10. The meeting took place at Victory Noll Center, 1900 W. Park Drive.

Tempel spoke to the group about the many programs where WorkOne is able to help businesses of all sizes. Tempel went on to explain how WorkOne partners and assists employers with the help they need to find skilled workers, do customize training and recruit prospective employees through the Indiana Career Connect network. WorkOne is not only able to connect the prospective employee with the business, but is able to connect qualified individuals’ resumes to businesses.

Tempel went on to say, “We help veterans, displaced or incumbent workers find employment. We also screen applicants for businesses to make sure they are able to pass a drug screening test before sending the individual to prospective employers.

Some of the skills taught by WorkOne are Microsoft Excel and Word, blueprint reading, workplace safety, mechanical reasoning, applied math and introduction to computers to name just a few.

Tempel went on to say that many incumbent or prospective employees are trained free by utilizing the On-the-Job Training (OJT) money provided by the State of Indiana.
