Posted: Friday, April 23, 2021

The Child Protection Team of Huntington County presents its annual Ronald E. Mitchell award to an individual who has gone above and beyond in child abuse prevention and intervention, and has had a major impact on the lives of Huntington County’s children. This award is presented each April in conjunction with National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year’s recipient is Dr. Duane Hougendobler.

Dr. Hougendobler has dedicated his life to helping children and families. His passion for what he does is obvious to all those who meet him. His desire is to see that every child has the opportunity to have healthy, nurturing and safe environments in which to grow. He is always willing to provide his expertise and support to others. He is involved in the Child Protection Team, the Early Head Start Community Advisory group and many other initiatives as they promote the health and wellness of children.

“Doc is such an asset to Huntington County. The impact he has on the lives of children will continue for generations,” shared, Kerri Baker, DCS.

The Child Protection Team is made up of representatives from law enforcement, prosecutor’s office, probation, mental health, HCCSC, YSB, the Department of Child Services and physicians.
